|
Naremburn Public School opened on 16.5.1887 with two classrooms and 180 students enrolled in the first year. William Swann was head teacher. It was enlarged in 1891 and 1908. In 1911 a Domestic Science and Manual Training building was erected and in 1912 an infants wing was added. It became a superior Public School briefly in 1913. In 1936 it became a primary school again when the junior Technical and Domestic Science Departments were moved. An intermediate high school was added in 1941. In 1966 the school became a central school, and again reverted to a primary school in1974. In 1990 the school closed and part was redeveloped for housing. In 1992, the school was reopened as a part of Willoughby GHS, then later Chatswood HS as a behaviour unit called North Harbour Unit. In 2002 it completed its last transformation into today's Naremburn School. | ||||
